Copa America 2021 basically will feature 10 teams from the South American confederation CONMEBOL and the other two team of the Asian Football Confederation or the AFC. The hosting duty of the Copa America 2021 is shared by Argentina and Colombia. It will be the 10th time that Argentina will enjoy the privilege of hosting the tournament, while it is the second time for Colombia.

Copa America 2021 schedule
The group stage of the Copa America 2021 will begin on 11th of June. In this match the co-hosts Argentina will take on Chile at Estadio Monumental in Group A. However, this group stage will end up by 1st of July with the knockout stage of the quarter-finals being played on the 4th and the 5th of July.

Why are Australia & Qatar competing in Copa America 2020?
It has been interestingly found that the CONMEBOL has established the tradition of inviting some teams from the continents not belonging to South America to come and compete in the Copa America.
For the upcoming 2020 edition, the invitation has been extended to the Asian Federation Confederation, namely Australia and Qatar. It is going to be a competitive debut for Australia and the second time involvements in such tournaments for Qatar.
Other teams who are even invited to play in the Copa America includes – the United States national team of men, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Japan, Jamaica, Haiti and Honduras.
Interestingly, no invitee has till date ever won the title of Copa America. However, Mexico has been beaten twice in the final of the year 1993 and 2001 while has got itself registered on the third slot in the year of 1997, 1999 and 2007.

In 2019 Copa America, Brazil was declared as the winner. The tournament was held in Brazil itself where they defeated Peru by 3 – 1.
