It is bad news for Brazilian fans, as their top attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is not going to play in the upcoming Copa America tournament due to a left knee injury. The Seleca doctor confirms the news about Countinho’s Injury and is expected to miss Copa America. Initially, at the end of December, Countinho had operated twice a meniscus injury on his left knee and it is the third time, the midfielder underwent a third surgery in Brazil earlier this week.
Selecao Doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar had operated on him in Belo Horizonte and he has clearly stated to Globeosporte on Tuesday about his participation for the upcoming Copa America (June 11-July 10) “I can already say that he will not be handed over in time for the Copa America”.
Barca has not yet confirmed the availability of their 28-year-old in a statement released on his operation, however, with the statement of Doctor Lasmar, there are still little hopes of the player to make a comeback by the end of the season.
Doctor Selecao said that since Countinho has already been operated on twice in Barcelona, it was necessary to carry out new surgery suggesting “arthroscopy of the meniscus” and also the removal of a cyst in the Knee.
In the 2018-19 season, Countinho was not a part of Barca’s game and was loaned to Bayern in 2019-20. He made a strong comeback in Catalonia last summer with three goals and two assists n 14 of his appearances. He has been associated with his team and had played a major role in winning the previous 2019 Copa America. For few days, Countinho will remain under observation in Belo Horizonte and then will travel to Rio de Janeiro for a speedy recovery.
